Zara return policy: 30 days, fees, and receipt options

Check which date starts your 30 days

For online orders, use the shipment date, rather than the day the package reaches you. For a store purchase, use the purchase date. Zara shows the final return date in your order details.

Zara’s US return instructions require original condition, all labels, and a return in the same market where you bought the item. Drop off an online return before the return period ends.

Choose a store or a drop-off return

A store return is free for eligible online and store purchases. Bring the items and your receipt or Zara QR to a Zara store. Someone else can take them back for you.

For an online order containing a large HOME item, contact Zara to arrange home pickup.

For an eligible online drop-off return:

1. Open Returns in your Zara account, or use Manage Your Order in a guest-order confirmation email.
2. Select the return and follow the emailed carrier and package instructions.
3. Print a label if Zara sends one. If it sends a QR code or barcode, follow that email instead.
4. Seal the items in suitable packaging and drop them off before the deadline.

The current US fee is $4.95 per return request as checked October 20, 2026. Older $3.95 advice is out of date. Zara allows items from different orders in one shipment when you select them through the return process. It does not explain a separate fee for every label, so check the charge shown for your request.

You can use another sealed box or bag, and a receipt need not go inside. Keep any product-specific packaging listed below.

What if you lost the store receipt?

Try Recover my store receipt. Zara asks for an item’s reference number, the credit, debit, or gift card number used, and the purchase date.

This is a receipt-recovery route. The pages checked do not promise a refund or store credit simply because you arrive without proof of purchase.

Check these items before removing packaging

Zara’s special return conditions add requirements to the standard rule:

When does the refund arrive?

Zara’s refund page says mailed returns are processed within 72 hours after arriving at its facilities. It emails a confirmation when the return is complete. Bank posting can take up to 14 days; if the credit is still missing, show the confirmation to your bank.

Refunds normally follow the original payment method, with the drop-off fee deducted where applicable. Separate packages can produce separate refund confirmations.

With a gift receipt, a store return is refunded to a gift card. An online gift order can also be returned through the website for an emailed gift card.

Can you exchange instead?

Yes. The same 30-day return windows apply, and you need your receipt or Zara QR. Zara’s exchange instructions allow size or color exchanges in store. Online exchanges are available for eligible online orders, with exclusions for some payment methods and gift-receipt orders. HOME products cannot be exchanged.

An online exchange has its own return obligation: Zara must receive the unwanted items within 14 days of the exchange request. Otherwise, it says it will charge for the replacement items.
