Kohl's holiday returns 2026: dates, Kohl's Card, and gifts
Kohl's 2026 holiday return window, who actually gains time from it, the Sephora at Kohl's dates, and how gifts and returns without a receipt are refunded.

Kohl’s has posted its 2026 holiday return dates on its return policy page.
- Oct 4 Kohl’s purchases start to count
- Oct 30 Sephora at Kohl’s purchases start to count
- Dec 30 Last purchase day for both
- Jan 31, 2027 Last day to return (key date)
Kohl's says the extension covers all Kohl's merchandise, including premium electronics and watches, jewelry, and mattresses.

The line about Sephora means Sephora at Kohl’s isn’t part of this window. It has its own: purchases from October 30 through December 30, 2026 can also go back through January 31, 2027.
Who actually gains time?
Kohl’s regular windows are already long: 90 days for most items, 120 days for items paid with a Kohl’s Card, and 30 days for premium electronics, watches, and mattresses. The holiday date only adds time when the regular deadline would come before January 31, 2027.
| What you buy | Bought | Regular last day | With the holiday window |
|---|---|---|---|
| Most items | Oct 4 | Jan 2, 2027 (90 days) | Jan 31, 2027 |
| Most items | Nov 27 | Feb 25, 2027 (90 days) | Feb 25, 2027, regular window |
| Most items, paid with a Kohl’s Card | Oct 4 | Feb 1, 2027 (120 days) | Feb 1, 2027, regular window |
| Premium electronics, a watch, or a mattress | Nov 27 | Dec 27 (30 days) | Jan 31, 2027 |
| Premium electronics, a watch, or a mattress | Dec 20 | Jan 19, 2027 (30 days) | Jan 31, 2027 |
Regular days here are counted from an in-store purchase date. For shipped online orders the window starts on the ship date, and for pickup orders on the day the order is ready.
Kohl’s doesn’t say whether a regular deadline later than January 31 still applies; the “regular window” rows are our reading. Its newsroom made the same point last year: the 90-day window already carries November and December purchases to the end of January, and last year’s extension, which covered only October 5 to 31 purchases, was “to give early holiday shoppers extra flexibility.”
So the 2026 window matters most for two groups: anyone buying premium electronics, a watch, or a mattress, and shoppers paying another way in October. For most items paid with a Kohl’s Card, the 120 days already run past January 31.
What follows the regular policy
Items bought before October 4 or after December 30, 2026 follow Kohl’s standard policy. So do Sephora at Kohl’s purchases made before October 30: they get Sephora’s 30 days, need a receipt, and can’t be returned without one.

Gifts and returns without a receipt
Kohl’s accepts most returns with or without a receipt. Without one, an associate can look up the purchase by order number, Kohl’s Rewards account, credit card number, or the return barcode in the Kohl’s app.
If no purchase turns up, you get a Kohl’s Merchandise Credit for the lowest discounted 13-week sale price, and Kohl’s may ask for a photo ID. Gifts work the same way: with a gift receipt you can exchange within the return window; without one, you get the same merchandise credit.
That fallback doesn’t cover everything. Premium electronics, watches, and mattresses need a valid receipt or account lookup, and Sephora at Kohl’s doesn’t accept returns without a receipt, gifts included. Kohl’s may also verify returns with a third party and limit or refuse refunds.
Kohl’s Cash after a return
A return can shrink your refund if the purchase earned Kohl’s Cash that you already spent. Kohl’s recalculates the purchase total, and the Kohl’s Cash it no longer qualifies for comes out of the refund.
- Original purchase
- $100 (earned $20 Kohl’s Cash, already spent)
- Items returned
- $50
- Kohl’s Cash the remaining $50 qualifies for
- $10
- Deducted from the refund
- $10
- Refund
- $40
If you haven’t used that Kohl’s Cash yet, it is reduced or voided instead. And if you paid with Kohl’s Cash, the amount comes back to you as Kohl’s Cash, on a new coupon if the old one expired.
Returning Amazon orders at Kohl’s
Most Kohl’s stores take Amazon returns for free; Anchorage, Alaska is the exception.
- Start the return in Amazon’s Online Return Center.
- Choose the Kohl’s Dropoff option.
- Bring the item and the QR code Amazon sends you to a participating Kohl’s store.
- A Kohl’s associate packs, labels, and ships it.
Amazon’s own deadlines still apply: drop the item off by its return-by date to avoid Amazon’s late return fee.
By mail, in store, or by freight
Store purchases go back to a store. Online orders can go back by mail, but you pay the postage: Kohl’s does not provide prepaid labels, and exchanges are not available by mail. Start a mail return from Order History, or from Kohl’s Returns Portal with your order number and email.

Large items that came by freight (Kohl’s Threshold Delivery) can’t go back to a store. Call Kohl’s Customer Service at 844-564-5701 to arrange the return. These returns carry a 15% restocking fee unless the item is defective; ordinary returns have no such fee.
Card refunds usually appear in about 7 days, depending on your bank; mail returns can take 7 to 10 days after Kohl’s receives them. Other stores’ 2026 holiday dates are in holiday return deadlines by store.
